5 Campervan decor ideas that you will love

Does your campervan need more character? Decorating the interior is a natural way to give it some personality, but it can be hard to find products that aren’t messy and won’t shatter every time you bobble over a speed bump. Luckily, there are several nifty ways you can decorate your motorhome with ease. Here are the 5 campervan decor ideas that you and your camper will love!

1. Mounted (unframed) Art Prints

Spice up your camper walls without glass breakage by using mounted art prints. Mounted prints usually come on a solid card backing without a frame (also saving you money). You can fix the prints to a flat surfaces with sticky Velcro. Pictured are my own mounted prints you can buy at Holly Kerehi Art.

2. Hanging baskets

Functional and pretty, hanging baskets are ideal for campervan interiors. Check out your local op-shop for unique baskets and bags. Attach them on doors or curtain rails. It’s also a good idea to see what’s on offer at your local furniture store (like Briscoes in NZ).

3. Wall Decal Stickers

I love decal stickers! They’re colourful, cute, and take up zero space in your camper. Plus, it is easy to apply them to any flat, non-porous surface. Check out my line of fabric decals here.

4. Plants

Plants are like pets: they bring reward, but also bring risk. I’d recommend starting small with succulents that don’t require lots of water. Ensure all plants are well anchored for those times you swing around a corner. Small plants can be secured near windowsills to receive sunshine.

Because they require water, light, and warmth, the cons may outweigh the pros if you are short on space, time, or living in a cold climate. Also, remember that soil retains moisture which will add to your condensation levels inside. Air plants that don’t require soil are a great alternative for this very reason.

5. Hanging Ornaments (Origami & more)

Hanging ornaments are one of my favourite caravan decor ideas that don’t take up much space. Bells, chimes, beads, and suncatchers… just be careful they don’t knock the window glass while your camper is in motion. The ones pictured are available here.

Other campervan decor must-haves

In addition to these creative campervan decor ideas, the following items are super useful when kitting out your camper:

  • Command hooks
  • Sticky-Velcro
  • Maps, travel brochures
  • Curtain snap rings (more elegant-looking than carabiners)
  • Postcards & blue-tac
  • Non-slip mats
  • Patterned sarongs as a colourful drape or substitute for curtains
