Enjoy op-shopping? Your guide to Warkworth op shops

If there was an op shop capital of New Zealand’s North Island, Warkworth might just be it! This pleasant, small town sits by the Mahurangi River, only an hour’s drive north of Auckland. For most residents, life is a leisurely mix of strolls through Lucy Moore Park, shooing seagulls away from picnics, and visits to the RSA. There are plenty of wonderful Warkworth op shops within the town centre, and another is only a short drive away.

The Museum Op Shop

The museum op shop sends its proceeds to the local Warkworth & Districts Museum (located in Kauri Park, about 5-minute drive from the town centre). This op shop stocks a range of clothes and great range of bric-a-brac, including heaps of sewing patterns and books.

The Hospice Garage Sale Shop

The Hospice op shop on Morrison Drive is one of the best places to go for tools, furniture and larger items. There’s ample parking available outside. Here, you’ll find everything from cabinets, desks, mattresses, bicycles, and skis, to books, crockery and a selection of clothes.

Summary

And there you have it! While there’s plenty of things to enjoy around Warkworth (the Kauri Park, fine cafes, and gorgeous Hibiscus coast to name a few), it’s also an amazing place to find quality items at op shops. For clothes, I’d recommend the Museum, Hospice, and Church shops. On the hunt for larger items like equipment and furniture? Head to the Hospice Garage, Community op shop, or Generosity Corner, although there’s a bit of cross over. Ideally, spend a day wondering Warkworth’s laneways and you are bound to find a bargain.
